Needing new tires.

I'm approaching 22Kmiles (mainly freeway). The RSAs still have half of the tread left. But the noise is unbearable. I sounds like there's a helicopter circling overhead. I would never buy goodyear (after living with the ones that came with my '89 Corolla). But these RSA came with the Max. All the reviews I read, these tires are just so average and I agree with them. I think they're only worth half of the asking price. Now I have to throw them out for some good rubbers:
* Did anyone try 235/50-18 ?
* I looking at the Falken Azenis ST115. I heard the main issue is treadware not worthy of 360 rating ?
* Tirerack is recommending the Avon M550, anybody try them yet ?
I read thru a tons of tires reviews and see quite a lots of "shimmy" issues with many different cars. So this issue maynot be unique to the Max.
Thanks.

You want 235 or 245/40/18s NOT 235/50/18s

I had 115s. Very sticky and quiet but treadlife could be better. I've heard good things about Avon tires as well

I've heard good things about Yokohama Avid H4S's. 60,000 mile warranty and AA traction rating. That's what the guys at Tires Plus say. That's what I'm getting when my current tires wear out.
