Adjustable Coilovers (again).........

Have anybody replaced their suspension with adjustable coilovers? I want to lower the car and to me that is the best way to raise and lower may car. Those who have installed them, please post something, like where you got them, how much they cost or, how much you have to modify them to fit. I would like to install some.

In order to do coilovers you'd need to get some extra struts and have them modified. IMHO unless you intend to do some sort of compeditive racing it isn't worth the hassle. The ST springs should lower the car a good bit here is how my max was with the ST springs http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gte671n...87maxSIDE.jpg.

Dead link

Nismo87SE: Dead link to picture. :-(

GundamWZero: I am confused here. Adjustable coilovers? Do you mean converting your standard suspension to that of the electronic adjustable suspension? Or are you talking about being able to adjust ride HEIGHT on the fly?

I want to adjust the ride height. I already have the electroinc suspension (the F-N-S settings), but I want the tunability and handling that comes with the adjustable suspension.

Yikes!

That would be a truck load of work dude. I also have a hot rod Lincoln Mark VII (with the 5.0) as well. I bought that car because of the airbag suspension. The cool part about it is that you can adjust the right height, yes height between three different settings. Granted, you have to unbolt and relocate the three external sensors, but you can do it. I am actually working on a system where you have a dial in the cockpit that intercepts the sginals from the sensors to the right height computer which would then allow the user to dial in the ride height. Very cool stuff. It's just a matter of determining the voltage range the sensors use, set the sensors to their lowest levels, so that when you have the dial set to the lowest setting, the computer reads right. As you turn the dial up, you also send the computer higher voltage readings which then tells it to raise the car, all the way up to the upper lilmit. Neat stuff.

Now, to mod a system like that to a car that wasn't originally designed for it, YIKES!!!! Your talking big bucks and a lot of headache. Some of the hot rodders do it and you can buy kits for that kind of stuff, but again, it's big bucks.

Food for thought.

Re: Yikes!

Hell if you can do airbags, they be the way to go. To adjust all you have to do is flip a switch, compare to putting the car in the air and turning an adjusting nut. Hell you can slam the **** out of it too, but raise it to clear the big *** speed bumps.

I was told by a airbag dealer that in order to install an air system, the shocks would have to be aftermarket. OEM struts would be too high for them to clear when bags are dumped. i DO realize that this post is about a decade old but i'm in the same boat now lol. anyone know of any aftermarket struts i could swap in to be able to get airbags or could they be cut with shorter springs to make due?

Get some KYB's , modify the spring perch and add some inexpensive coilover sleeves/springs and find out what you lowering limit is....not that hard...1.5" is probably doable without a problem! You can try different springs to find what spring pressure works best and make a workable kit...don't worry about who says what... you won't be race car low ..but you'll be lower then stock!
