In case you were all wondering...

I was looking at some 4th Gen Maximas. Private party Max's are non-existent here in Nebraska. Dealers were just asking too much, not to mention I found 1 decent 4th Gen manual. It was a '99 SE-L. Red, with everything but leather. I cant express how impressed I was with it...It was so smoooth. It probably hadnt been started in a month or two and it was about 15* out but its idle was perfect. I drove it and it was great....but the dealer (Stan Olsen - I wasnt impressed with that dealership, at all) wouldnt move from the $16,999 too far. They were only going to give me $800 for my '91 too.

Soo.....Im going to buy a '99 Altima GXE (CD, 5speed, 36K, kinda stripped) for $10,200 from Woodhouse Nissan in Bellevue NE. Payments are bit easier to swallow and Ill have to put off my late model Max purchase until I graduate (hopefully next spring).

Heh, I was meaning to check up to see if you'd found a max yet.

Stan Olsen can go eat a fat one. They wouldn't even let me test drive a Spec-V, after I'd bought the maxima off them. "We don't test drive these cars, they're rare..." Yea, a customer buys what was originally a $30k ride off you (I bought it used, granted, but), and you don't let him test drive a $19k sentra?

They're also the ones that somehow botched up a rear shock install...which took them like, a week to rectify. After they rushed me to buy the car at the end of the month so the saleswoman would have some spending cash.

I'll be lookin out for the alty @ Bakers... What are you gonna do with your 5-spokes?

you can buy something that vintage off ebay for 10-12K...and shipping it across country would be another 600-1000. I am not saying I would be that brave myself on that expensive of an investment, but its an option....I did buy a local car off ebay, and it went smoothly.

a nice 91 is still worth $2K minimum in a private sale...or more depending on miles, condition, options...etc.

that's better than they gave me for my 1992 Camaro Z28 25th Ann. Edition - $500

Granted, it had some body damage, but it had a brand new engine.

I didn't care - I just wanted to get rid of that POS anyway, and get a car that didn't eat engines like Cheetos.

Look on autotrader.com, and ebaymotors.com is a place to find good deals. Make sure to run a carfax report to make sure there has been no damage to the car.

If I were you, I'd go back there and try to get that red SE-L. Those suckers are rare dude! Everything but leater?? So, 5 speed, moonroof and ABS, too? That's gotta be the perfect rare 4th gen. Get some ads from autotrader.com, cars.com, ebay etc. Print them out and bring them to that dealer. Once they see the competiton with lower prices, they may go down somehwat, especially seeing that you are really about to spend some money. They'd rather have it than someone else.
