Rear Main Seal trouble! help.
Rear Main Seal trouble! help.
how do i remove it??? theirs 3 blots (removed) now what??? i tried to put a screwdriver on the back of the retainer 2 pop it out. what im i doing wrong??? is that RTV silicone that stronge??
It's not that easy to remove. Screwdrivers aren't really the correct tool. They sell seal removers at tool places. The are curved and are designed to remove main seals, front seals etc.. I think they look like picks. You probably have to mangle up the seal pretty good to get it out w/o a seal tool. Just be DAMNED sure you don't damage the surfaces that the seal rides on or it will leak even w/ a new seal! Carefull when you put it back in. Straight! And note how far the seal is installed BEFORE you take out the old one.

Re: Rear Main Seal trouble! help.
It has a pin (guide pins) on either side just pry with a screwdriver BTW the original sealant they use is very strong especially on the timing cover!
