How do you read a Vin Number???

I've recently posted my problem with my 2000 SE, and have found that there is indeed a Service Bulletin on the car (NTB00-039a dtd 12/4/00) covering A/T Slips...It states that "vehicles built before: Sept 28, 2000" are covered. Then they give applied vins. My question is how do I determine if my car falls within the range? "2000 se Auto transmission
Maybe I'm being a little picky, but I just got this car and have noticed that when the car shifts from 1st gear to 2nd gear that 2nd gear doesn't catch right away, unless you ease down on the excellerator and then it will go into second gear. Once the car warms up the transmission is normal and shifts fine. I have a Camry XLE 6 cylender as well that does not have any problems at all when shifting in cold or hot weather. Do you have the same condition on your car? I'm from NY and it has been a cold winter".

By the way I seached all prior posts to see if this question was asked before and could not find any.

Welcome to the board... Open the driver's door and look on the white sticker in the lower right of the door opening. There's a white sticker with all of the info, including the month and yr your car was built. The VIN is there also. Usually the last 6 digits are the build order, i.e. the # car off the line.

For example, my car is April 99, the vin is 001673 - one of the first built

HTH's and correct me anyone... -Mike-

Someone else asked about this same thing in another thread on this forum and I replied because my tranny did the same thing and later that same week it died. Go and get your tranny checked, it sounds to me as though it is getting ready to go to the grave.

Take the TSB with you and check your VIN to make sure that it falls within the range.
