Question about the windows

Don't know if this is common or not (I tried to do a search, didn't find anything)

But after a rainfall (or melted snow, car wash, etc.) when I roll down the windows and then roll them back up there is some water on the outside of the window.

Is this common / to be expected or should I be concerned and talk to my dealer???

Well, it's not uncommon. I've seen it on my new Max, and other cars.

Some cars seem to have tighter gaskets on the door that squeegee the water off.

What do you mean by water? If it is wet out and the rubber weatherstripping has gotten wet, there will be some damp streaking on the window, it is not a bone-dry squeegee. If you are talking ALOT of water, that might be different.

The thing is, the window is bone dry when I roll it down. However when I roll it back up it has water on it (On the outside only).

I wouldn't think this is common, and it has me concerned. Last thing I need is my doors to start rusting out.

Again, has the weatherstripping gotten wet?

Well yeah, the weatherstripping is wet, but the amount of water being transferred to the window seems a little excessive.

Again, I dunno if I'm being overly paranoid or if this could be a problem.

Also since it's the middle of a cold winter up here water doesn't exactly evaporate immediatly.

Also remember that the 'rubber' will not be as pliable and form-fitting due to the cold. It may be more prone to leaving a gap between itself and the window in places. Might not be a huge gap, but any gap will allow moisture to collect.

Ok, I'll keep an eye on it for now and see if it continues to be an issue during the spring.

Sorry I can't think of much else at this point. Those would be my guesses.

Good luck.

I have never had or seen a car that didn't streak the windows after being washed or rained/snowed on. Max or not. I don't think you have a problem. The problem, or lack there of, is exactly as jjs has explained.

You will experience this in all types of weather. Especially when the weather stripping gets wet. Hell, if you wash the car, with high pressure water gets in, but it's not puddled up inside the door or anything. It's just a wet seal that will dry eventually.

Don't worry about it.

I agree. That's why I don't roll down the windows for 24 hours after I wash it....it usually dryes after that. I had this on every car I ever owned.
