OT: Static Electricity

I'm sure by now most people have heard of the dangers of static when refilling your gas. I never realized how much of an issue it was until recently. I don't know what the deal is this year, but I can't walk 10 feet without touching something and getting shocked. I don't remember it being that bad in years past. Anyway, I was getting out of my car the other day, and I closed the door with my arm. I got shocked THROUGH the arm of my LEATHER jacket! I don't know how the heck that happens. Another time I pulled back the door of my gas tank, and ZAP! Has anyone else had these sort of experiences??

Re: OT: Static Electricity

is it winter where you are? I know up here in NH it's been so cold for so long that there's hardly any humidity in the air. You can just about get a static shock from wood these days.

Wait for summer and 110 degree days and flesh searing on contact with leather seats... static doesn't seem so bad now, does it?

There was actually a thread on this a while back. Seems that most people with the leather interrior didn't have problem. On Saturday night it was REALLY cold here in NY and I was getting shocked all over the place! It doesn't really bother me, kinda woke me up since it was about 6AM and I hadn't gone to bed yet. The "shock" of the shock is not expecting it!

I'll deal with this over summer any day of the week!
