You probably posted more info, and I didn't see it. Is UR going to sell the VE UDP?

I spoke to Eric at the 01-11-2003 meet in New York and I asked him about the UR pulley and he had it installed on his car and told me that the gains are the same as the ASP UDP. He also told me since I have the ASP already that it woudln't be worth switching it over since they both give the same gains.

Thanks for the info.

I'm hoping the UR pulley won't have the fittment issues the ASP one seems to.

well a lot of people have fitment issues but when I installed my ASP pulley I used a 2x4 and with a mallet I tapped it in and it slid in without a problem.

Yeah but I dont think a slightly better fit than the ASP justifies the cost. If I remember correctly it was gonna be over $200.

my asp required about 5 minuites of grinding and then fit a little tighter than the stock and i also dont think it would be worth the extra 100+ dollars for 5 minuites of work

Man, I can't believe you guys are actually "grinding" down this type of part. I'd have machihe shop take a few thousands off or just bring both parts in and have them match up the two inside diameters.

I agree with Jeff there, I'm not sure which area people are resurfacing. But I hope its not where the pulley runs on the oil seal.

Yeah so the gains were posted for the UR UDP, with dynos, before and after. It produced around 10hp at something like 4500rpm. But remember that I'm an auto and this was done in third gear, so the dyno wont show the full gain. Also if you read my old post you'll find that the people from UR are (I'd like to curse a lot here but I wont ). The before and after dyno was done several months apart, and I did some work to my max during that time.

So the new pulley from UR should go into production in Feb or March. It was supposed to be ready in Dec, but they had to do the CEMA show.

The only reason that I could give someone to get the UR UDP over the ASP would be that the materials are better and that the dimensions are truley perfect (I checked every single one).

The only grip that I have right now is that on the prototype (I'm currently using), they made the crests where the belts runs a little too wide. I told them this and hopefully they will correct this.

If you hear any more news from them, please let us know. Also, if they fixed your fittment issue.

Thanks for the update.

is the UDP really a necessary upgrade?

Well lets put it this way it's a good upgrade. The car revs better and in my case not everyones, I use to have the common problem of heat soak where once the car is fully warmed up it would get slower. After I had the pulley installed I have never felt the heat soak problem again. So I guess if you have the heat soak problem you can try this first because it's not that expensive the pulley costs $100 shipped from www.rpmoutlet.com

Dude, dont abuse the heat soak issue and relate it to a mod like the udp. The heat soak issue has more to do with the knock sensor and the thermostate (we should all be using a 170F thermo) and ofcourse new antifreeze.

In my last post I wrote "IN MY CASE NOT EVERYONES, I use to have the common problem of heat soak where once the car is fully warmed up it would get slower. After I had the pulley installed I have never felt the heat soak problem again." I am not linking it as a direct solution for heat soak, it just happened to get rid of it when I had my UDP installed.

Yeah but I hope you see my point. If you car is feels slower when its warmed up and then you installed the udp and the car felt quicker, you simply felt the gains of the udp. Now if you had done your thermostate and replaced your KS, then you could say that it had something to do with heat soak.

I understand what you were saying Diego , I just dont want others to be confused with what you were saying.
