Locking or non-locking differential?

Aie, I'm confused again Are our trannies' differentials of locking or non-locking type? For some reason I'm running into both while searching for a replacement tranny... what's the difference exactly? I figured we were non-locking right?

Since you're in Canada and you bought your SE in Canada... you have a locking tranny (VLSD).

Just to nitpick, it's a limited slip, not a full locker. Those you normally see on serious off road vehicles or on good 4x4 systems. I've yet to see one on a streetable passenger car.

See that's what got me going.. I figured any sort of limited slip differential VLSD/HLSD/Quaife etc would mean I'm locking.. yet for some reason all the shops up here advertise them as non locking!

I agree with 2 posts up...to be precise, they are not full locking diffs. Even my truck has a limited slip as opposed to full locker rear end.

Makes sense; I wouldn't think they would spend the money to actually develop two different trannies for the same model in the same market region (well, aside from the VLSD.. I guess someone thought we got more snow up here hehe).
