hey guys, I just received my stillen kit (thanks Alex)
I dropped by Sprayglo (for local guys) to get a quote.
the guy told me it will be $300.00 for installation and $300.00 for paint. Does that sound right? cuz I have no idea.
anyways...he also told me to get urethrane painted, I gotta put the bodykit on first before they can paint it. I always thought (maybe i'm wrong) that you paint the bodykit first than do the installation? he said that it would crack the paint on urethrane.
Is there a write up on how to install Stillen Touring kit for 2k2? I'll be searching at the same time.
thanks

Installation is easy so don't pay for it. One of us in the ATL can help. I'm getting mine painted first, then put on the car. That's how my last one was done too. I think body shops are worried about the paint flaking off when the parts are twisted to install, that's why they want to install first. From what I understand, as long as they treat the kit like a bumper and add the flex agent, you will be fine when installing and during everyday road wear.

I thought installation was going to be easy (never done it before) until i saw the instruction says "REMOVE THE FRONT BUMPER". my jaw just dropped when I saw it....that's why i think its gonna be hard. Do you think it'll be easier if i just put it on first than bring it to get it painted...that way there is no chance for paint to crack or anything during installation?

That front lip actually doesn't look that bad. I ordered the 2k1 aero kit for my 2k2 so I gotta modify the front lip.
Good luck with your install and most importantly... TAKE YOUR TIME.
Also, just a side note, my friend, who owns the body shop that is working on my car, told me that he dips all urethane kits in a HUGE pot of boiling water. SERIOUS!!! He says he does this to heat up the urethane to help get the plasticizers out so that when you paint it it doesn't come through the paint. I can vouch for this 100% because the kit I had on my 91 SE-R did exactly that and it looked horrible. Just wanted to share some info.
Post the pics when you're done!!!!! I wanna see!!!
