I really like the way it works in the snow. It lets you accelerate nice & easy, and it keeps you on track. I was seriously thinking about getting snow tires... but I may not need them after all.

The only thing I hate about it is that it's on by default... I always end up turning it off every time I get into the car. The last thing I need is traction, when I'm flooring it in the summer!

Hopefully this will help some "lurkers" decide if they should by a Max with/without the Meridian Package.

The 6 speeds don't come with TC. Only the autos do.

You need to get your manual, now, and read it cover to cover.

I agree, the TCS works great in the snow.

i still dont get the point of not having a TCS option on a manual WITH the HLSD

my friend's 2k GTI VR6 had TCS and its manual , its really nice to have when you take nice long turns really fast in 2nd gear,

It pretty much amounts to the fact that a stick driver pretty much 'becomes' the TCS for the car. The differential will distribute power while the drive will apply it at varying degrees by use of throttle and clutch. On autos, it is either in gear or not, therefore the need for TCS to modulate the power delivery sometimes.

By the way, did the GTI have a LSD of any kind? If not, it may have used the TCS to compensate for the diff. rather than work with one.

The GTi's TCS does not work above 25mph, I believe. I've tested my Maxima's TCS @ 75mph!...

Acura TLs & CLs have the best system - VSC Vehicle Stability Control Sytem (?) which is the shiat.

ehhh...wrong, it DOES work

my friend took turns at 50mph in 2nd(which is close to 5krpm...where most of the power is), and you saw a light flicking which was the TCS(or ESP how VW calls it)

Difference of opinion here.
I think TCS sucks, even in snow. Its good for helping you get off the line and in small turns (turned on for me a few times even with snow tires), but when it comes to climbing hills and slight grades, they blow monkey chunks. I got stuck because of this, and I felt like a fool when a CRX passed me up the hill (at least I got further than a Saab). Needless to say, I only got up the hill after 15 minutes of struggle and spinning by turning TCS off and some weaving. =/
