Hmm, looks cool. With a weight of only 2,593 lbs, that gives a rating of 15.25 lb/hp. If a VE weighs ~3150, then is gets a ~16.48. Looks like a good race to me.

not a bad little car though...these new sport compacts are starting to have some bite now straight from the factory!

have to say it:
Ford..... slightly behind technology.
Nissan... too far ahead for their own good.

I love my VE when it's cold, otherwise I'd get more power out of a focus

Considering FORD has one of the advanced engine management systems, I doubt they are "behind". Besides in Europe they have been making BIG power w/ their awd turbo Escorts and Sierras. FORD+Cosworth = butt kicking

And considering FORD is putting this tech in their LOW end car is nice. Nissan only put this into their HIGH end car in 1992. And what's so great about Nissan's Maxima VTCs in 1992'? It's a pos junk design.

Thanks Jeff. I don't think the design of the VTC is "way ahead". It sounds to me that its a bad design. It fails. In all truthfullness, it sounds to me like the car has a lot of problems. All you have to do is read the forum. I must sold a truck with 183k on it, with zero issues like is mentioned here in these forums. Let's see...maximas have the following known problems:
Bose Stereos
Power antenna
VTCs
Fuel smell
tranny going out, but this happens to many automatics of any brand
etc

My truck had two starters, an intake gasket, fuel pump and the driver side window regulator replaced in 13 years. Oh, and one transmission rebuild.
