Bought oil filters online. Size appears 1/2 to 1 inch longer but same diameter as what my dealer as been using. Is anything to worry about?

 

more important than the dimensions is the manufacturer. Who made it? A bigger filter isn't necessarily better.

 

Been using Nissan filters from local dealer and Courtesy Nissan ( both use smaller). Ordered from different Nissan dealer and they sent me the longer ones which they told me were correct for the '02 Max ?

 

someone around here pointed out a while ago that there are actually 2 different nissan OEM filters for the 2k2... I can't find the post but it said something about making sure to get the 'asian' OEM and not 'south american' ... but then again it might have been the voices in my head telling me that.

No matter, if the dealer is selling them to you, I wouldn't worry. How about you call the second dealer and tell him you changed your oil and the filter you took off is different and see if he explains it.

 

I changed the oil myself for the first time on my 2k2 Max last week and noticed the same size difference. (Had 1Yr free oil changes from Nissan when bought car) I noticed both were made in Japan, same diameter size, just different in length. The one on the car was the short filter and the ones I bought from Nissan were all the longer style filter.

The three filters I bought were from Town North Nissan. Great price...buy two get third for .01 plus you get 3 copper drain plug gaskets as well for 15 bucks.

I've been meaning to call or PM DAVEB and pick his mind about the size difference and all but I have been supper busy.
