I know it's cold up here in Jersey but even in my (relativly) warm attached garage when starting up I get a screaching sound. Once car is warm doesn't happen again until sitting a while. It occurs the second I let go of the key on start up and lasts a second or two. Any thoughts- besides "sounds like starter."

how many miles are on it? when it occurs after it has been sitting a while, is it idling in gear, neutral, or park if youre auto? i dont know what kind of shops you have up there, but just about any autozone or advance auto, unless you live in a small town, can test anything electrical including starters.

 

Loose Belt?

 

It has 37,500 miles and its a stick. I made an appointment at Nissan but I may as well, grab my ankles, huh?
