I was on the way back from the gym and this white 2k1 5sp maxima pulls up next to me. I have seen that car before, but never had a chance to run with him. So this teenager pulls up next to me and gives me the cool look. We were both doing about 30 then he steps on it and so do I. Make the long story short I spanked him by at least 2 cars and that was only at about 65-70mph. I then looked in the review mirror and saw a sight of disbelief on his face. I guess he never expected a 2k2 to be that fast.

 

yea yea yea, rub it in our cars are slow...

 

I wasnt trying to rub it in, but I was just making the point that many 2k and 2k1 owners dont realize that the 2k2 and 2k3 are much faster. And no your cars arent slow aspecially compared to other cars in its class.

 

I know, its more envy than anything.

 

 

UGH! I dont' need to hear that. I'm trying to justify why I need BOOST over trade-in on the new Maxima.

I've done the Y-pipe, Franken Mid with JWT pop, RSB, FTSB, Leather Install, Basslink, 18" rim upgrade <BLING BLING>. Only thing I'm thinking about near future is coil-over (suspension) and BOOST.

Wouldn't that suck to BOOST and still get spanked by a 2k3 or 2k4.

 

yea those 30 extra ponnies sure do a lot. Although the difference between the 2k2 and 2k's is I noticed a lot greater than the 95-99 and 2k's, and if im not mistaking there is 30 ponnies difference between the 4th gen and 2k's. Go figure, I guess its the 3.5 VQ

 

OT, but it reminded me of what happened today, which i forgot about until right now. ran with an at least slightly modded AV6 coupe. all i saw on his car was an exhaust...i'm not sure what else he had.

we both pulled from a light normally, even til 20mph, then i see him gun, so i do the same. with a passenger in my car, and my "traction" light blinking like crazy when i first hammered it, my stock 2k2 auto walked right past him. put 2-3 car lengths on him by 60 or so. i know i know, AV6 and 2k2 isn't really a close race, but it was fun nonetheless. when are these accord owners going to learn that they need serious mods to beat a 2k2, even auto

but the 5th gens are heavier...there is some buzz about 99 5spds being faster than 2k1 5spds...but i may not want to go there...

 

from my personal experience...i havent found a 4gen as fast as mine...im not gloating or anything but i have a 5gen body, system and 18's?
havent seen to many 4gen that beat me???

Stock auto 2000 and a stock auto 99, the 99 won every time. ****ed me off so I got an intake so I was faster.

 

There was also a weight gain when the Maxima went from Gen4 to Gen5. When Gen5 3.0 went to Gen5 3.5, it was only an engine gain, the best kind

ok im not hattin on anyone...but im gettin kinda sick of these riced out maximas!!! most prolly not on the org...but theses ghey a$$ maximas keep pullin up to me...

for example:

i pulled out of the mall today and this little piece of cr@p maxima pulls up to me(4gen) dark green with these u.g.l.y rims mirror tint and some ricey exhaust...i totally schooled him but these leads me to my post...y are the 5gens that are heavier beatin these 4gens?

 

If you would just look in front of you, instead of in your rear mirror, you would see a 4th gen beat you.

 

I've asked this before and never got an answer... I keep reading where "some people" believe a '99 is faster than a '00. But then the '00 people say they can beat an '02.

So, to listen to the posts, you're saying a '99 can beat an '02??? I doubt it.

 

There was a post about a guy in an 00 that beat on 02, but i think the 00 had all the bolt ons and the 02 was stock?

I think the video was a bolt on 5sp against an auto 2k2+ from a roll. In that case, it seemed to depend on who got the jump.

A 6spd 2k2+ or a modified auto will beat a 2k/2k1 pretty good.

I mean we've got 2k2 org guys running low 14s stock regularly. That doesn't happen with a 2k/2k1 without boost.

 

that was pioneer racing a 2k2 and 2k3 up to 130+ mph in the rain.

us 2k-2k1 modded owners can beat the stock 2k2+.... just gotta take it up past 100+ mph

 

i think the 3.5's tq is what makes the biggest difference between 2k-2k1 against a 2k2-2k3.

 

ya i raced a 2001 honda accord v6 and the dude beat me whem my 2001 maxima was stock and ****ty tires....i was really mad and still am!

Time to get that turbo installed in my 2k1 so I can justify keeping it.

 

ran a 2k2 auto from a dead stop, 2k2 will pull slightly, however, i caught and passed this 2k2 by end of second gear and walked away.......next light, she rolls down window and said "i lost cuz i have 40lbs of stereo in the trunk." i said, " i have 40lbs of stereo stuff in my trunk too." which i do.....anyways, back to topic, they will get us, 2k/1 5sp, off the line cuz of torque, however, with the mods of i/y and b pipe, we'll walk ahead near end of second.....that's my real life experience anyways.....pc
