Help - Piaa Super Plasma H4 Keep Blowing out

In the past 2 years that I've had the Piaa Super Plasma Head lamp bulbs I've had to replace them at least 4 times already. It seems that they keep blowing out every six months. Even the Super Plasma H3 fog lamps have blown once. I don't know if the electrical system in the car is messed up or if piaa's quality is crappy. I used to have the Piaa Super whites on my old car and they never failed. Has anyone else had problems with the Super plasmas? OR Should I get the electrical system checked?

Also, I just bought the Sylvania Silverstars and I don't like 'em. I really like the super plasmas, but can't keep going back to the dealer every 6months......

Thanks for your help

You could try the Xtreme whites. I've had them in my headlights for almost a year and in my fogs for about 6 months with no problems.

That is weird. Do you use gloves when installing them?

When installing any type of halogen bulb you must not get any of the oils from your skin on the actual bulb. Try wearing some gloves when doing you next install and if you do get some fingerprints use a lint free cloth to wipe them off. Hopefully that will extend the life of your lights.

Thanks for the replies. To answer your questions, I make sure not to touch the lens as I know that will decrease the life. I hold it from the end...ie from the metal connectors. I am pretty sure i haven't touched the lens. Do you think it could be the electrical system or if the super plasmas are just good quality?

I experienced the same problems on my car and my GFs. I finally got fed up with the high price and short life. Yes, I handled the bulbs with cloth and not my bare hands. Still, they kept going out.

Yeah, I had my PIAA Super Plasma GT bulbs for less than 6 months befoer one of them went out. Now I have the Silverstars. They seem to be pretty good, considering I only paid $8.99 a piece for them. hehe
I don't think I'll buy PIAA again. It's not worth the money.
