2000 5spd Vs 2002 6spd Vs 2003 6spd, guess Who Wins, VIDEO INSIDE

Sup guys, I know there is a lot of Bitterness towards the 2000-2001 lately that it can't hold its own with the 3.5 6spd. I'm sure you all remember http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=184388 This thread 3 pages down...

Well here we go, Me and 2 friends of mine on this forum, LUMBEE799 and SORCEREUR went for a spin today on the Hwy to see what we Got.. Check the Videos

Silver Maxima is a 03 SE 6spd
Blue Maxima is a 02 SE 6spd with Intake
Mine is a 2000 5spd With CAI/Y-Pipe/HKS + A Big Heart

First Race 60-130, I was in the Exit lane so I was kinda watching the road but manage to keep up to 130, he was about 1/2 car infront of me by the end, Oh yeah, John MisShifts at one point too 60-130 03 6Speed Takes Me By 1/2 A Car

Second Race 40-120, I take off then slow down b/c the other 2 had a bad start, We do it again, This time Silver 03 Gets a Jump but I catch his A$$ 40-120 Silver 03 Gets A Jump but I catch Up to him WIN 5spd

Third Race 60-120, We take off at Exact Same time, and You can see the Results 60-120, 5spd, Keeps going and going and going

Wow...in the rain?

I hope that the 02 or 03 weren't on the stock RE92's.

One of these days when I get New tires, we'll try from a stop. Right now I'll just Spin and Hopp if I tried. But From sitting in the Silver 6speed, I think it will be a good race.

Oh yeah, we decided to make this to put an end to the discussion. The modded 2k is hella fast. It actually is slightly faster than the stock 2k3, but it's not much (top end is stronger as you can see). It feels much faster due to the y-pipe and the cable instead of drive-by-wire. But, don't be fooled. Going into this i knew it would be tough to beat, if at all. We just didn't post anything because people wouldn't believe until they see the vids. (Some hard-headed on this board).
I still feel like the cars are even, but Ali feels otherwise. I take his word for it. It was tough. Also, Ali is a great driver. Never makes a mistake. I'm a good driver too. From a roll, i'm not worried. It'll always come down to the fastest car.

After Ali gets a new clutch, and perform other maintenance on his car we'll run from a stop. But, i'm worried about that one. The boy is an excellent driver(having a very powerfull supra helps a lot ). No questions. Crazy too. Check out his signature picture. That was him drifting the max, after he just got the car and modded it a bit, on a very narrow road; before he got the supra. I don't know anyone crazy enough to do that in the heavy maxima. If i didn't let off he would have kept going(hopefully his wife isn't reading this). I'll have to get used to my car. Got it less than 2 months. Still stock. The only thing i have going for me from a stop is HLSD and low end torque.

Johnathan didn't race us because he had the passenger with the video camera, and we were trying to show a modded 2k versus a stock 2k3. But you can see he's creeping up on us even though we took the jump.

Question, what is the best rpm to shift the 3.5? I was shifting at 6000rpm everytime. I didn't know if i'll fall out of the powerband if i went beyond, therefore loosing momentum. I need to make sure that i didn't shift too early; i was staying above 4000rpm though. I still had another 800rpm, or so, to go.

Stay tuned for stock '03 vs '02 with Intake, and maybe modded '00.

Finally someone gets something on this, but no matter what the 2k2-2k3 6spd guys will continue to hate and say some crap about how the 2k2-2k3 guys didnt know how to shift. Its always some crap like that. Never will get the respect.

You should see what a 2k1 5spd with Pioneer's mods does to a 2k2/2k3 auto on the highway. It ain't pretty unless you like the look of the 2k1 tails from a distance.

Pioneer: What size rims were on your ride and how much do they weigh? What intake was on the 6spd?

PS: The best way to launch a 2k1 5spd is at least 3500+ with clutch/gas modulation which is in prime torque range and gives a chance against a high tq 6spd. Once over 5200RPM-fuel cut the 5spd is doing it's thang!

Nice vids. I'd still be interested to see the results from a stop, but I think that'd be more driver dependant.

Hopefully this won't start a big 2k-2k1 vs. 2k2-2k3 debate. It'd be nice if people from both "sides" could just take the videos for what they are, a little fun amongst friends.

Nice vids The races looked pretty good to me except on the last one, you did have the inside lane.

It would be intersting to see how you would fair up against a 2002 max (like mine) that has basicly the same mods as you.

The VIM on the 00-01 makes awesome highway power, very impressive. DaveB is checking the head/lower manifold gasket to see if I can get a 00 VIM on my max. That would be a kller combo! 3.5L with a bad **** intake manifold.

Pioneer would trap around 97mph tops. The 3rd-4th shift is right on the line where as you would already be in 4th. With your mods you would beat him but less your y-pipe it would be close.

I don't think he would fare well against a similarly modded 2k2 Max, our trap speeds are way to high to suggest that we would get run down from a roll.

Hey, the HKS is just a rear section without a b-pipe right? So you have a stock cat and b-pipe? Also, is your car cali or fed spec (just wondering if you still have one pre-cat)?

Damn, imagine how that would have gone with a straight pipe, b-pipe, udp, advanced timing, etc...

Injen Intake

Too bad it didn't help against a stock 2k3 and a modded 2k. After running my car hard in the 60-130 vid, I started getting a weird burning smell inside my car? I possibly have some clutch problems that might need to get checked out. Once that is resolved I will be ready for round 2 (in dry weather).

After much speculation, mpg's and still

You guys can still speculate this, that and what if's but until those scenarios get played out and you have proof..... (don't even disrespect the other drivers skills, excuses are tools of the guilty)

Pioneer - 1 others - 0 (u know who you are ... lol, hooyah)

c'mon now it's all in good fun ... today is not your day!

I say keep the stock cat and just go with a b-pipe. I find the test pipe you lose power and sounds raspy. With boost yes.

Yup the mighty 6spd needs to be modded to pull away. This thread quieted a lot of 6spd owners up finally. I bet they start modding a bit more too!

Not a flame, but why did he win by half a car 60-130 and then lose by such a large marging on the 60-120. It looked like you jumped out ahead first in the last video. Nice vids...

I have two recommendations for the carmera man.
1. Don't zoom too much; it looks like the car that you are in is going faster.

2. Show the speedo and tach a little more

Other than that, it was GREAT work!
