Fuse under hood

OK maybe some people here know the 88 Maximas better than I know mine.... the other day I noticed a yellow inline fuse connector right behind the drivers side strut tower, next to the 2 relays (bulb check and clutch interlock), near the firewall, on a red 10-gauge wire going straight to the battery (+) terminal, through the fuse, and in with the wiring harness that goes through the firewall.... I removed the fuse and everything I could think of still worked, my next step is to check it with an ammeter and see if there is anything powered by it (indicated by a current draw). It's in one of the plastic hoses that the rest of the underhood wiring is enclosed in, leading me to believe it was installed at the factory. does everyone else's car have this? if you do, what the heck does it power?
