I've raced a couple Type Rs. I've got video of one race of me and a friend in a yellow Type R. All he had was an intake and muffler at the time. I had a y-pipe, intake, and muffler at the time. I pulled two cars on him from 0-40mph and he got right on my bumper at the end. I ran a 15.1@93mph and he ran a 15.3@93+mph. We both had aweful 60 foots (something like 2.5s or something). I wouldn't consider racing that Type R now. He's got pretty much everything offered from JUN on the car right now ($7000 in motor and exhaust work). I think he hit a 13.6 or something in Nashville. Overall Type Rs are very quick for a 4 banger and shouldn't be taken lightly. In the right hands they can run mid 14s with traction.

Regardless of the gen of maxima, fact remains that in the hands of a good driver, the R can run mid to high 14's stock. Some 5th gen 5 speeds have hit high 14's stock.

I went to the track and ran a 14.9, 14.8, and a 14.7 at another track (cold day) and on both days I went Type-R's were 15.2ish. The best Type-R I saw was a 15.1 and it had Toda camshafts.

If you don't have power adders to give you an edge. Its going to be close. But it all comes down to driver. If she can't shift.. Then you can take her. =)

Hey Zum...

What is your lighting scheme on the front end - it looks sweet. Are your corners rewired to be brighter? Are the bumper lenses yellow or clear? What brand & wattage of headlights. The only thing I might do is yellow or Xenon fogs.
