Xpel product ?

hey all. i'm new to this forum and was told that this might be a good idea to put on my car. my question is, does it work and is it worth it? plus the person that i talked to on the phone about installing this stuff told me that it was difficult to install? i'm wondering if this is something that i could just order and do myself. any comments would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

it's the 2002 nissan maxima front bumper kit. plus will it fit my 2003. i'm assuming that it will. thanks.

This is just like the 3M stuff. Basically, this stuff does prevent 99.999% of all stone chips where applied. Unless the stone is BIG, and approach speeds are high, this stuff won't be penetrated. However, this stuff is a lot thicker than you think, and will be noticeable.

So if you are the kind of person that demands crystal like paint, this stuff isn't for you. If all you want to do is save money on repainting your hood every couple years, and can do with seeing this stuff on your car all the time, then go for it.

Yes, it works. I had a place sorta in my area (that had mobile service) install the Xpel's stuff on the front of my hood and the front bumper. They also did the fronts of the mirrors and door edges.

It definitely did prevent me from getting new paint chips where it was covered (it was quite numerous already, I think I had 9 of them by the time I hit 3k miles). I only wish the hood portion extended a bit further back on the hood as I've gotten a few chips past the clear bra. If they can do a custom job for you have it go back further, that'd be better I think.

The cost savings of DIY vs. having it done professional were minimal. I'd guess that the hood piece is easy, but the front bumper piece looks tough.

I had mine done and its great. It was a tad pricey, but as I look at the bumper while i'm cleaning it, I can see all the crap that it hits. I would go for it and yeah..see if you can get the part of the hood customized. Get it further back than what the standard package comes with. They can customize it, you'll pay for it, but its WELL worth it.
