What is involved in changing my 2k tail lights to a set of the 2k2 clear and chromed tails? Is it a simple bolt in operation or does some wiring and such need to be changed?

Lights fit perfect but you will need a wire harness for the plugs. One of the plugs is smaller on a 2k2.

 

All you need is an 8 mm deep socket. Undo 4 bolts on each side and push em out.

 

There you have it... Now, unless you have a GXE/GLE tails, are you really going to convert to 2K2's. On the SE, the smoked tails definitely rock. that is my humble opinion ... especially on dark color cars...

 

yeah but hey...maybe we can fool people into thinking we have 255 hp if we get the 2k2 tails...

Also, RF951...Are you sure about the sizes of the bulbs being different? I thought all of the maxima tail lights...GXE/GLE, SE, and 2k2 all used the same bulbs and sockets and stuff and were a direct swap...least my GXE to SE is...I haven't gotten my hands on a set of 2k2s yet, but none of the writeups I saw said anything about a wire harness. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah I'm sure. I just changed my 2k2 to 2k1's last weekend and discovered this. Funny thing was I didn't remeber reading it in any searches that I had done on the subject.

I know exactly what you're saying, but my SE tails are like the 2k2+. The painted GXE tails that I have are however different bulbs.

so i'm doing a swap from 2k3 to 2k taillights..what things do i need? a wire harness? or is that only for swapping the other way around?
