I have the opportunity to get the headlight assembly from a 97 and put them on my 96 GLE. I would like to know what all is involved. Which nuts or screws to remove and if it is worth all the hassle. I am hoping it is an easy job. If anyone has any detailed info I would greatly appreciate it.

I actually do not have to spend anything but time. I am switching them off of another used car. I just need to be able to not make a mess of it.

very easy removal:
1) take off corner lense and remove the x2 10mm bolts behind there
2) remove the headlight bulb and harness
3) next to the radiator there is x2 8mm bolts running parallel to the radiator
4) remove these two bolts (top one iss tucked in there and the bottom oone is easy to see)
5) remove the stock grille as well (unclips off by 5clips)
6) thats it, now slowly remove the headlight asembly
7) swap out the old for the new and enjoy the new style

You might also want to swap out the 97 corner lenses as well. I bought a set of 99 corner lenses and they look really good next to my 97 headlights, better than the 95-96 lenses, IMHO. goodluck!

The swap is easy. The 97-99 headlights do look much better than the 95-96. As far as the corner lenses, I didn't swap to it out. I rewired my corner lights, and it looks good enough for me.

Where can you buy the 97 head lights? Do they cost a lot of money? Thanks
