Bad Gas milage, rough idle, hard starting, need help
Alright guys, i've done a lot of reasearch in the forums to try to correct my problems but nothings worked so far. Heres the deal, I have a 1998 Infiniti I30. In the morning after the car sits for a while and I go to crank it, it takes a couple of turns before it starts. I also get poor gas milage, less then 19 mpg on combined city/highway driving. When my car is warmed up and in gear, it has a rough idle. The car has about 68k miles on it. I have just changed the spark plugs, air filter, and cleaned out the throttle body to no avail. I've also tried to adjust the fast idle adjustment which helped a little, but still did not fix the problem. I have no check engine lights on, i've skanned the ecu for fault codes and I have nothing. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe a fuel filter? Maybe a bad coil pack? I dont really know where to go with this, your help would be appreciated.

In the morning or when the car sits for a while, I have to drive it for about 3-4 miles before the torque converter will lock up. Would that affect why my gas milage is so bad?

Maybe thats the problem..if after the clean fluid you problem continue, you will need maybe a VB, you can go to some junke to find out. All this afect gas mileage but dont forget to check the o2 sensors and KS. that kills your gas

I've already drained the transmission pan fluid, this didnt really help. You say that the pan needs to be dropped and cleande, but i've read in posts that this is somewhat normal. That in cold temperatures the transmission temp sensor will not let the converter lock up. My tanny seems to function fine once the car is driven for a few miles, so I hope its not my valve body. What does everyone think?
Pull each injector plug. Each time you unplug one the car should run rougher, if you pull one and it doesnt change the idle, either a coil pack is bad or one of your injectors is bad or clogged.
If the injector is bad take a multimeter and set it to resistance(Ohm) and read each injector with the car not running. They should read around 10.5 to 12.0
If a coil pack is bad switch them around and repeat the injector unplug test to see what cylinder doesnt fire after switched.
Hope this helps

Whoa
You need new Sparks, check if you get any engine lights, i bet theres a sensor helping this out also, the upstream o2 sensor usually does the idle drops, if its misfiring you need new sparks, igintion coils and a whole bunch of other things
