Does extreme cold induce wheel hop?

I was driving some deserted roads the other night and decided to stop and practice a few launches. It was very cold out like 5-10 degrees maybe with a below zero wind chill. Ground was completely dry.
3 different times I got such violent wheel hop I thought something was going to bust. I had never had such bad wheel hop before, nothing even close, but I also had never tired to launch in the dead of winter.
You think the cold had something to do with it, or maybe a bad motor mount?

you may be getting less traction because it's so cold that the tires won't grip.

im not exactly sure what causes it, but i went for some g-tech runs with some maxima boys in my area (toronto) where its about -10 to -15*C and i got no wheel hop at all.
however sometimes i get it really bad and i think my engine will just break the mounts and fall out.

yhea, I know the cold hurts traction alot. But wheel hop? Maybe once the wheel hop starts the lack of traction in the cold makes it greater?

It maybe the the lack of traction from the cold along with the extra power produced by ur engine together causin it...when i was at the track a couple of weeks ago i launched the same on all six of my runs...and on the last two passes when temps dropped 25-30 degrees compared to earlier I started gettin wheel hop
hope this helps

Mike what tires are you running in the winter? I don't floor my car in 1st or 2nd on my winter tires because its just a ton of wheelspin, I don't think I've launched my car hard since the last time we were at the track.

I run potenza Re950 high performance all season, they do a good enough job in the snow and slush not to switch them out in the winter.
I just hope this does not continue when the weather gets warm.

The weather here in chicago got above 40 for a couple days. I tried a few launches and the wheel hop was nothing compared to how it was before. I guess the cold my have had something to do with it.
