I we were lined up at a stoplight. He looks over, nods. I know is on. I idle the engine at 2k and do clutch launch when the light turns green. WOW what agreat launch I pulled at leat 5 car lenghts by the time I was out of first. That 1988 Toyota Corolla didn't have a chance.

With curb feelers and the 'turbo' decal they can do low 20's.

 

Obviously it wasn't the Toyota Corolla Type-R that you raced.. Otherwise.. You would be toast. Its got a supra engine I hear. And AWD from the alltrac. And ofcourse, its only available in cotton candy blue. Watch out for those.. Oh, they have 6 speed getrag trannies too. 6 forward gears.. and 3 reverse!!

I love those corolla races.
Did he has the high horsepower stickers or some speed increasing window tint?
Some kid in a neon (pink no less) with Pepboy special rims tried to race me once. I let him have about a full car length lead and then just gunned it past him....don't know what they're thinking?

Becareful though...looks are deceiving. There is a kid around Philly that has an old eagle talon with upgraded turbos and lots of other work. Car looks normal, but he has some serious power.

 

Hey, my previous car was a carolla. I once hit a top speed of 110 in it. It was pretty scary, the whole car started to rumble, and the engine was racing like crazy.

 

are there any major differences between the various models or is the "S" badge supposed to put 20+hp to the wheels??
