Ok here's the deal: I have a 92SE V6 Twin Cam non ABS. The car has 157K and runs fine but not great. It has a slight miss at idle but seems OK when you really get on it. It has also the lost power needed to climb hills while in OD. You have to downshift to 3rd to get any real throttle response on the highway even if just going up a slight grade. It also has an acceleration lag at times. I have had a bad injector O-ring on the back side (this is why I didn't fix it)for a while. This is only noticable in the cold. When warm there is no oder of gas. When cold there is an oder of gas until the block heats up then it is gone. So anyway besides that I need shocks and struts,my muffler will rust through soon the CAT's got to be at least partially clogged and I need a LF CV joint. My buddies shop will do all the work for 1100.00 bucks. This includes replacing all the parts mentioned above and removing the Injectors and cleaning them and putting in a new O-ring for each injector. My questions are what kind of exhaust and shocks and struts should I use bearing in mind my goal is to keep the car usable as long as possible not a performance upgrade. Also I have the distributor-less ignition: how do you test the plug wire/coil deal that goes down to the spark plug? I imagine it can be tested with a VOM. Should I just buy 6 new ones? I'm thinking the miss comes from these or the injectors/O-rings. The car does not smoke and starts up everytime no problem. Love to hear anyones feedback with experience in any of theses areas! Thanks Earl T
ETBMW is my email due to ties to the local BMW motorcycle club so no flack please!

hey

Maybe you can help me....
I have very similar things going on with my car right now. A lot of the time when I really press on the pedal, I don't get nearly as much throttle responce as I probably should, car speeds up moderately while I am nearly flooring the pedal, then all of the sudden I get a miss or hesitation and the car pauses, RPM's hop up and it begins to fly like a bat outta hell. When I am going up the hill, this happens nearly all of the time. Sometimes it happens as I come out of a turn.. Gas milage really sucks too, less then 200 miles on a full tank. Now you say this is a bad fuel injector? Is there any way I can test them, or have them checked out at a dealer or something?
My car has 96k on it now, and I need to get rid of these problems.

thanx,

Here's the thing, if the catalaytic is clogged, it will hurt performance and response. I had a friend let his go and after he replaced it, no difference. He eventually had to replace his entire exhaust becuase the converter had sent peices through the exhuast and clogged it in a couple of places like an artery! Also, your intake manifold may need to be cleaned, I know mine does, this will hinder air intake thus response and performace is hurt. I'd even replace the PCV valve. If you want the injectors removed to be inspected and cleaned, go ahead. IMO it's not necessary, just buy a bottle of NOS fuel injection cleaner.

I HAVE THE SAME THING! i ahve a stick, but when i nail it, it'll like go, then act like it really wants to go, then really put ya in your seat, not real smoothlike. I was thinking it might be the VTC acting wierd, or maybe an O2 sensor or something causing problems. I dunno. also, i've heard not to run cleaner through our fuel system. this is why i don't run sunoco 94 anymore.
