Wiper Fluid Motor or gunked up lines?

My wife pointed out to me that her washer fluid doesn't come out any more. I went out and looked it over. There's plenty of fluid in the tank, the wipers work like a champ. Should I be able to hear the motor hum when I turn the wiper fluid on? I don't.

So what I'm wondering is whether I have some blocked up lines or a bad wiper fluid motor. Any thoughts or suggestions anyone??

Thanks!

if you don't hear that "whirring" sound (motor) when you try to use the washer fluid, then it means the motor is gone.

Your lines will never gunk up if you use windshield washer fluid because of the chemicals in it. The tip where it comes out can get clogged though. It deffinetly sounds like the motor. I don't know where the fuse is for it but check that first.

When I bought my car used, the motor for the fluid was shot. Also, when my mom bought her maxima used a few years back, the same thing happened to hers about a year after. We never bothered to replace anything in it. It's most likely your motor though. Common problem on maximas.

Yeah... it seemingly is pretty common. Just get an OEM replacement because it accepts the stock harness... or Autozone will have an aftermarket unit for a few bucks cheaper if you don't mind rigging up the wiring. I think the OEM is about $20 and aftermarket, maybe $12. The motor is attached to the windshield washer reservoir in case you are wondering. You just peel back the fender well lining in front and there it is...
