Ok..only second post to these board...should probably keep my mouth shut..newbie rule I read somewhere.., I'm to new to have a right..I'm just an ignert newbie..yadda yadda...

As in life...you give an inch and most take a mile. From a user standpoint, newsgroups and forums for the most part do not allow attachments, long sig files or pics embedded out of respect for those that pay for net access time by the minute and for those with slower connections. We don't all have T1 lines and if you're sitting on a 56K modem connection, I could go wash my windows while some files load. The pics of the cars are appropriate for this forum and are of interest to all but as most things, if it's abused, it will be taken away. (Abused=subject specific) In the world of usenet groups, you get flamed to high heaven for attaching a pic of any kind and for excessive sig files. Be thankful you can post pics of your cars.. As the owner of several websites and creator of more, graphics of any nature can certainly take a huge bite outta of resource allocation. If precious file space is taken up by files not related to topic, we could all be limited to number of pics in sig and sig line limits...again, be thankful you can post our car pics and specs..but if even a few abuse, a limit could be placed on all. Nature of the game..

As a female, I'm not offended by the pic {spit}, but I can go look in the mirror and see almost the same (:-)) but I'm not remotely interested. lol I'm here for the maxima's, not for adult viewing. If I'm interested in that, there are better sites I can visit.

As for the Nickelodean rule, well, common sense and topic related?

Ok, I'll go back to my corner....

Yes, basically that's the rule of thumb -- keep it on topic and if it's something off-topic, well, there's a forum just for that. "The Nickelodeon Rule" is mostly for those visitors with no grasp of common sense and serves to level the playing field somewhat to a point where all of us can communicate -- much like the newspapers do (i.e., writing at a 6th grade reading level).

However, don't be intimidated, have fun, and say hello to Bill99GXE up there in Music City.

I agree 100% ->

It's nice to see some females on this board. Nice people should speak up more. It seems like latly we only hear from rude and annoying people.

You just earned my respect, even though you're a newbie!
I'd much rather converse with someone who would speak up if they find something offensive than to just sit on their laurels and grit their teeth every time they see a post.
Jambo (the "webmaster" guy here), has asked that total sig files be under 50kbytes in size, but obviously many people don't adhere to that. I think mine's about 25k or so, it's been a while since I checked, but I know it's well within the size limit.

there have also recently been requests that the off-topic/lewd photos be taken off, but they'll come back.
I'd kinda like to see a "registry" or "user's Rides" section and completely lose the sigs.. there are already links to the user profile on the side of each of our posts, so I'm sure that could be easily accomodated, if that's what Jambo decides should be done. Then again, I like seeing everyone else's cars on their posts.. reminds me what we're here for. Maximas, not women.

Jamie,
I think Matt has an excellent idea. Why not lose the sig pix altogether, and combine them with each users profile since the link is already there from each post? But I guess this should probably go in the suggestions section...

I see nothing wrong with newbies speaking up, how do you think I started? I was a newbie once and I started speaking up right away and posting alot. It's good, and I think you should share your thoughts with others. If, by chance, you're wrong, people here won't throw it in your face.

Watch out for some of the guy's on this forum.

I can't begin to tell you how many women have been run off because of being hit on excessively.

Please don't go back to your corner. I suppose every once in a while, some cleaning needs to be done. This just happens to be one of those times. Got a question, ask away... some one says something that doesn't make much sense, flame away.
