And when my car payment ends, that means I'll be driving a car with a 10 year old design!!
I'm gonna be a first one to ride my Max to 500,000 miles.
As this dude said before, the day my payment ends, I'mm gonna wipe my butt with a 20 dollar bill.

Yeah I know! I can't believe it's considered old now. 7 years has really gone by. It was only yesterday when the VQ received the top ten engine four years in a row when my dad bought the car. Now it's 7!

I know what you mean

I have a 1997 that is 3.5 years old. I remember the day I bought, exactly 24 hours after my friend bouht his 97 maxima. I still treat the car as if it's new, and I refer to it as the "new car." I guess it is new compared to my 89 mazda 626, 89 mazda 323, and 90 honda accord.

I was among the first to buy a 95 Sept. 94 and while this car will be 7 years old this year, it doesn't look it. Hope to keep it for a while longer - considered selling it last year when I got the "new car bug" then I came across this web site and realized there were lots of things I could do to update the handling and give it a little more power. So to this site I owe my renewed interest in my car which I still enjoy every time I drive it. So I got an almost new convertible added to my parking lot and resolved my itch. I love my Maxima!

I do believe hehehe (long)

I remember when this sales dude bought a 1995 SE in 1994--man he was a hit with the girls and that was a hot car in late 94--Black, Bose, leather inserts (didn't realize how cheap it is until I had the entire seat cover replaced under warranty), moonroof, back then we said it was phat. I worked my butt off, saved 6 quarterly bonus checks, got mine in March 98 when they were giving them away. Shoulda used my head dough. Old men were buying SE's and GLE's due to the ridiculous discounts. I heard 7 grand off list but at least I was over 6. At that time I almost went the used route because of depreciation and coulda scored a '96 for only 16 grand. If I did that I'd be able to cut the Max loose and buy a new car. But I went new and got slapped big-time on depreciation.

The first thing I noticed was no one thought this was a hot car anymore even in 1998. So yes, I can believe how much Maxima shows its age. When you drive behind a 4th gen, it looks so narrow. It's gotta be a few inches narrower than an A6. The rump is so low when you see it parked next to a newer car. Yep, this design has seen better days. But hey, it's still far more than basic transportation even if the Taurus has more hp hehe. Seriously? Even in the big city no one has ever bothered my car when parked on the street, so there are benefits to driving something that isn't phat.

14 payments to go, she's a banshee

the front faschia and lip of the hood is a bit bugged and scratched up, the interior is showing it's age (born March, 1994)leather wear, internal roof is a bit marked up, but she's a banshee, tell me where you can get better performance and overall usability.

I have 2 rolls of insulation and skis in it right now.

last night i found a limit, i was doing about 75 and dropped it into 3rd and hit the gas, why, for the hell of it. at about 100 it ran out of tach, it gets there so quick you don't even know it, since when i'm doing this i kinda watch the road for other idiots hitting their brakes on a highway or doing 65 in the far left lane.

14 payments less than 4200 dollars, what will i do then,
the last one i sold with 155,000 miles on it, and kicked myself afterwards. i luv mods, next up i think is the ecu.

Heck, the 3rd gen is nearly 12 years old!!

Call me a 3rd gen phanatic, but I think my glossy black '90 SE looks just fine, the partly paintless bumper notwithstanding. I would even say it looks more "phat" than the 4th gens, but that's just a matter of preference

i never thought how old our maxes were..

our 95 SE auto was bought june of 94..it was such a great feeling to be rolling around in an "exclusive" ride for a few months. black with gold trim. those were the days. can you believe my mom only has slightly over 35k mi on that car? sick huh. come to think of it, the body is holding up remarkably well with the same oem exhaust in there. my 97 gxe 5sp is catching up on miles with 20k. it's such a great car. i think it still looks better than some of the newer, more clunkier designs.

It is pretty odd that the 4th gens are this old. I mean my 99 is about 2 years old and i still consider that new. Worst of all, i still consider the 95+ Maximas new too. You know... "What do you have? I have a 95 Maxima. Oh, that's still pretty new" Even though it isnt. Maybve i should just sell my Max so i can have a new car again. Ahh yes.. the smell of a new car.

Yeah It still "sounds" new when you sat i have a 93 TTZ or a 92GXE, but when you actually look at it, they are 8 and 9 years old, respectively. Wow I can't believe that!
