new cross-drilled rotors and old pads

I just bought a set of 4 power stop rotors and I was also going to get new pads but my mechanic told me that I do not need new pads. True on a replacement level, since I got new fronts about 7k ago and rears 3k ago, but I always thought that new rotors means new pads plus power stop recommends new pads when breaking on rotors. Should I go ahead and replace them or should I save the money and get some stainless lines instead? Also, does anyone have any experience with ebc green stuff pads? Thanks.

I don't know about professionals, but if it were me, I'd get new pads and save the ones you have now for the first brake pad replacement.

that actually sounds like a good idea, and now that you mention it I will do that if I do replace them, but I guess what I'm really asking is if its really necessary and will it benefit the life of my rotors? If not then like I said I will get brake lines instead thanks for the idea though.

Save your money.

You don't necessarily need new pads if you replace your rotors, especially if the pads are in great shape. If you like, you can lightly sand the old pads to expose fresh material. The old pad will bed into the new rotor.

Follow a break in process for new rotors:

A semi agressive slow down from about 45MPH followed by about a mile of just crusing to allow the rotor to cool down, repeat this about 10 times. Make sure you allow the rotor to cool down completely before you stop your car once you've completed this process.
