Applying touch up paint

Okay, so I broke down and washed the max even though snow is coming- It was horrendously dirty. When i got home I noticed a few scratches here and there, some deep enough to catch a fingernail in. and i even noticed that the owner before me used touch up paint that was obvioulsy not the right color code But i am gonna leave it alone- I figure more harm than good will come messing with the already touched up scratches. I am going to get some touch up paint from the dealer and touch up the fresh scratches. Can you share the proper technique for making the touch up paint look less "touch upy" I want to conceal the touch ups as much as possible so they blend in as seamlessly as possible. The guy before me kinda did a blobby job. I think he used too much paint aside from using the WRONG color . Is there a web page that teaches proper application techniques? Thanks again guys.
