Quick Question: What gaskets to use with VI install

Im going to install my VI tommerow with the help of another .org member. I ordered my VI and install kit from Mr. Cranfill, and I got the collector and Intake gaskets. I was searching and found that I might need a new TB, EGR, and IACC gasket (hope I got those right). My local nissan dealer didnt have these in stock, so my question is do I actually need these new gaskets? Could I clean and reuse the old ones? If I do need new ones u think I could temporarily use the old ones until I can get some new ones in? Im going to a car meet about 1.5 hrs away, I wouldnt push the car hard but the car would get some use before I could put in the new gaskets. Just give me ur input.

Edit: Im guessing it wouldnt work to put that silicone gasket that they sell at pepboys would it?

Pepboys might have a TB gasket for you. You really should have ordered all the gaskets well in advance of the install.

1) The EGR gasket can be reused, but for the price I would replace it (if you scuff it up too much it's not nearly as effective as new). Replacing the EGR gasket after your install will require removing the manifold again.

2) The IACV gasket can be reused, but again you should replace it. The IACV isn't a big deal because it can be done fairly easily after the install of your VI.

3) The throttle body gasket MUST be replaced. My TB gasket was on there so tightly that I had to scrape it off, and even then I had to use a utility knife to get it all off. This means that you won't have a gasket to reuse, and the TB is definitely an important part of the intake path.

So, the only hope for you is if you can find someone (another Nissan dealer, Pep Boys, etc.) that can get you a TB gasket in time.

You could reuse the old gaskets if they are in good condition.

You ought to first get a vacuum gauge (any auto parts store will them for $15 or so) and get a vacuum reading at idle. Then after you do the MEVI install, check the vacuum again to make sure you don't have an air leak somewhere.
