Paint Protection?

I have to wait 'til March to get my auto SE AE Ebony w Frost leather (none available in Western Canada right now). I'm getting undercoating done & will probably get the clear "rockguard" coating done on the front end, but am wondering about the "paint protection" offered by the dealer. What exactly is it? Is it nothing more than a glorified wax job? I can wax the car myself if that's all it is.
I'm also going to purchase a hood deflector, moon roof deflector, and wheel locks. I'll get a 35% tint all-around too. I thought I saw somebody on this board who purchased mud-guards for their '01 maxima and I wouldn't mind knowing more about them if anyone has info.

Paint protectors
Most deraler who sell paint protection, mis sell the product. What they actually sell is a silicone sealant. No real value. There is no product that protects the clearcoat and paint other than a regular good quality wax. Save your money.
As for undercoating, Consumer Reprts did a test a number of years ago and indicated that it adds no real value bacuase of the manufacturers rust protection warranty. Again an unneeded cost.
