Some links needed for drag racing help

Are their any sites that can predict what rpm I will be at in 4th gear with a certain diameter tire, or what size tore I need to not have to shift out of third but still run 120mph?

Are their any forums for hard core FWD races to discuss suspension set ups?

Matt, you don't need any help.

Most of the hardcore guys I know are DSM and of course their suspension requirements are totally different from ours.

Here is where I got the idea for my suspension mod. I has some good stuff.

Help, well perhaps mental help

I was looking at my rear coils and I cant figure for the life of me how the heck you get those inserts in their and wraped around the strut shaft? I have Eibach springs maybe the coil spacing is tighter than what you have, what springs do you have?

I am considering somthing like welding a set of stock struts fully extended to jack the back up and get zero squat. But it will be a pain to swap out rear strut housings at the track.

Maybe air bags? Or do they make air struts for coil over set ups? I'm looking for a way to firm up the back and rais it up whick dosent involve too much work at the track?

I had to cut off the dust covers, I have stock struts and Maxspeed Springs, its fun to get them in there and I now take the rear wheel off to do it vs jacking up and crawling under.

I am thinking about making a bracket for the top and bottom that extends out towards the center just past the spring and then just bolting a solid rod between them at the track. You are right though gotta be an easier way. I'll let you know if I come up with an easier method.

I tried chaining the front down too but didn't seem to help much like the rear did. Makes a rough ride on the return road though with the rear rigid.

Anyway I am still looking at an easier way, some morning I will wake up with a better idea, I hope.

No problem. Those ideas, combined with some others I have, should get my VG auto into the 16.1 range and possibly the 15's this summer without using any power upgrades. If the ideas can work with my anemic 120 or so HP, I'm sure they can work with your gobs of HP and help you reach your much more noble goal of 11's. If I find anymore info, I'll send it your way. Have a good day.

I'm serious, that's a good idea. I should hang around DSM forums more often. So, I need the spacer shown here: http://www.jcwhitney.com/productnoit...=14833&BQ=jcw2

And some nice tie wraps to hold my front from coming up. Dude, that is awesome. That has got to be the worst problem I have with my car. My front end rises SOOOO much on the launch. I am always looking for cheap mods. I thought I ran out of cheap mods, but I just found another. Muwahaha!

http://www.smokemup.com/auto_math/mph_range.php

You can enter in your tire size and gear ratios and it will give you MPH at every rpm through the band. Check out the rest of the auto math on the page too, you can enter in two different tire sizes and compare them.

Anytime you need some mental stimulation, just go and read the DSM threads in the Advanced Discussion area over at www.dsmtalk.com . Those guys know their stuff and do some crazy stuff with it too. They've been going fast since 1990 and their knowledge base is huge.

Looks like I'm good till 130mph in 4th. To stay in 3rd I would need a 30" slick for 120mph traps with a 6500rpm limit.

hmm, i'm praying my JIC coilovers will shave off a few tenths with the proper set-up.

I was thinking of preloading my rears all the way up, and setting the stiffness to 8.

If I really wanted to get extreme, I could drop the fronts all the way down and raise the rear all the way up.

just some thoughts

I have the perfect ty-wraps at work for this. I'll get pics and part numbers on Monday. They're over 3/8" wide 18" long and reusable.

Oh yeah, how exactly would you install these zip ties? Would you only wrap it around the two spring coils that are closest to each other? Or would you skip a row and wrap it around more than 2? I hope this makes sense.

So, since it's 20" in length, I guess you can wrap it around the coils atleast 2 times?

How many would you use? One on one side of the spring and one on the other?

Tinsel strength is 90 lbs? Is this the same thing as saying the police tie wrap handcuffs hold up to 500 lbs?

I need these... what is a Telco supplier? I've never heard of that.

You don't have to get them in 20" lengths. Cut them shorter if you want.

I plan to use four in either 180º or 90º increments.

Thats just a rated number. The lock is probably the weak point. I expect these things will hold alot more than 90 pounds.
