Keep the 23 inch slicks or get 26 inch slicks?

Ok guys. At the moment, I am using 23x8x15 M&H RaceMaster slicks on my stock steelie rims. I currently have a 100 dry shot that will be a 125 wet shot in about, um, 2 days. At the end of the 1/4 mile, I am having to shift into 4th RIGHT at the end. I think that this may be killing my times. Do you guys think that I would benefit more from a 26 inch slick with the larger diameter so that it would raise my gearing ratios just a little so that I do not shift into 4th at the end?

Also, as a side note, I may/will be going turbo within the next 2 months......if that changes the needs/differences in the slicks needed.

i would say go with the 26" slicks especially if you feel that you having to shift into 4th is killing your times.

BTW what are you running in the 1/4?

Manual trans, go for a 25 or 26. Auto, go as small as possible.

Manual trans always have traction problems and the larger diameter will help.

Autos can really use the gear reduction and still maintain traction.

I was thinking about the traps and gearing too. I am mid way through 4th w/ 24.5x8.5-15 M&H's, I want to go faster though so I thought 26" might put me lower in 4th and outa the real power band. Prolly 117-118 mph to get 11's with a 1.7 60'. Basically I need 4th. Confusing.

Have you run on the slicks yet? Also, what other mods are you planning? I went with the 26" slick to prevent having to shift into 4th.

Yeah, I currently have them on my old stock steelies. However, they are being transferred over to my new Kosei rims that I just got. Right at the moment, I have a 100 dry shot, but by tomorrow afternoon, it will be a 125 wet shot. So, basically, I will probably have to end up getting the 26 inch diameter ones. Anyways, Hoosier or Mickey Thompson, any difference?

Also, should I go with the widest possible slick I can fit on the rim, or just the ones I have now..???
