Anybody else have these 'bumpy' leather seats besides me? All the 3rd gen leather seats I have seen so far have been 'smooth'.

Who else has black paint with black leather?

Perhaps it's just on the black exterior/ black leather interior models?? I know other people have this combo. What seats do you have??

hey....

Have any pics of your front seats?
I want leather dammit, this is interesting, why did some seats look different? I like these more, remind me of Bonneville seats.

Does anyone know where we can purchase those leather seats and how much it will be.

I am now depressed after seeing RosenKen's pictures.

Thank you.

I'm not sure if they were an option or standard, but I have driver and passenger power seats which I also had in my 89GXE with leather

Most of the 3rd gen. leather seats are the "smooth" looking ones....I test drove a 93 SE (dark blue) and it had the "bumpy" leather (black leather)...I noticed it had cloth door panel inserts, so the leather must have been added after.....however those bumpy seats must be something Nissan installs....I have a 92 SE that originally had cloth, and factory leather seats were installed and they were the smooth ones (dual power) but im not much a leather fan myself so I traded them out with someone here and now have cloth seats from a 93 SE.

well I guess I got a deal then

It's smooth and comfy and everything. It was probably a dealer option maybe? Since so many seem to have it now. The dealers probably got more of a profit margin by installing the aftermarket leather than by paying the Nissan OEM premium. I could care less

Really? Hmm.. that's funny. just because you install the stuff, you're an expert on everything there is to know about leather? What if it's not taken care of properly? what if the aftermarket stuff is cheap ****? there's a lot more variables than just OEM and aftermarket. some people get a bum deal on the oem stuff. There's sometiems cracks or imperfections in it from day one. others get stuff that looks great forever with minimal care.

Ken, your seats are weird :)

Here's some pics of mine in my '93 SE. Both my front seats are power by the way.

And...

There you go. I have looked at three other 3rd gens and they had the same seats (though not as nice).

hey well i'm not the kind of guy who relies solely on one opinion. No offense. The katzkins website quoted an average re-cover job at about $1000. Day-um. Guess I got a good deal.

yup u got a good deal. i wanted mine done but i'm not too crazy about throwing in 1K for seats on a 10 yrs old car.
you don't have to take my word/opinion/fact/BS...but don't say that i'm incorrect or disagree with me until your done with your research..beacause 9 out of 10 times i'll tell u the truth and if i don't know something i won't say, or i will let u know that i don't know.

My car has the "smooth leather" in it and it also had power driver and passenger seats. I think maybe the black leather is different? My seats are tan leather. Who knows?

My $0.02 of data:

92 SE
burgendy exterior
black leather interior
most (if not all?) options (sunroom, ABS, spoiler, Bose)
power front driver and passenger seats

smooth back seats and normal door panels (gray in color)

Damnit, I want bumpy leather!

Someone in the 'group buys' section is offering some kind of discount for leather seats, superdesi. You might wanna check there.
