this should be in the audio section.

Factory Refurb means it has been used and malfucntioned or was damaged at some point and repaired by the manufacturer. So it may work like new.

Sometimes electrical equipment are refurbished at some unknown facility in which case the reliablity can be questioned, especially on ebay.

sometimes its ok to by refurbrished stuff.. because..

if that particular model has a defect.. it has been fixed by the manufacturer.. where as a new one might still have the problem..

its like buying a 2k automatic that already has the solenoid problem fixed.. where as buying one that still has the problem

if your going to save a significant amount of money buying a refurb and its still covered under the factory warranty, i'd say go for it!. But if its going to be a 20-30 dollar difference, i'd still go for something brand new.

while we're on the topic..... never buy open box! what many people do are they just buy something new, and put something old back into the old box and just return it (personal experience )

Try etronics.com, they have some great prices and claim on the site that they do not sell used or refurbished stuff, only new. Anyone deal with them at all? They have the 7490 for 1400 new. There's a difference between manufacturer refurbished and factory refurbished. Factory refurbished doesn't exclusivly mean it was refurbished by the origonal manufacturer. I've seen cases of refurbished stuff being sold and it wasn't reconditioned by the origonal manufacutrer you may want to make sure its OEM refurbished and warrentied.
