Exhaust Heat

How hot exactly does the exhaust piping actually get while running?

I would say around 1000 F. EGT temps run around 1300 to 1600 F I believe. Someone else should confirm.

Wow! 1000-1300k°F?!!! So, any type of paint that will hold up to that much heat...prob. not huh? I was going to do the exhaust wrap, and thought if i coated the piping with a layer of high temp paint or something that would hold up to that heat, and the cool down. Any ideas?...I am stumped. Just too much heat I think to do anything in the range of coating.

I think the same company that makes the exhaust wrap (can't think of the name though, its D... Engineering something) also sells some kind of silicone sealant that goes on top of the wrap......I think that could be an option if u r just trying to prevent parts from rusting with paint?
