VI stress

Am I the only having a problem trying to find the additional parts for the MEVI?

"Vacuum Canister NAPA part #730-1607 ~$12.00
Vacuum Check Valve, Pep Boys, "Help" parts section ~$5.00
EVAP Purge Control Valve hose adapter.
Switched Relay (Radio Shack 30AMP Relay) ~$5.00
Vacuum Hoses ~$10-15

MAP/Baro Switch (Vacuum Solenoid) from a Nissan (Pulsar, 3rd Gen.
Maxima)
or
Dawes Dual Stage Control Solenoids $38.50
http://www.dawesdevices.com/solenoid.html"

The vacuum canister from NAPA is enormous and that part number doesn't exist or something. Maybe the canister is supposed to be big I don't know.
The pep boys I have doesn't have the check valve. They have everything but that.
The EVAP purge control valve- well that one isn't a problem. I'm not using a relay.
And the MAP/Baro switch can't be found at my local junkyards and the dawesdevices link doesn't work and the website has nothing about dual stage control solenoids.
I'm so frustrated right now.

If you can find a 92-94 se 5-sp, you can get the one way check valve, vacuum canister and solenoid all in one shot.

The VG maximas have a form of varible intake also. So they too might have all this stuff.

Re: VI stress

The Napa canister is not that big. If I'm not mistaken, any NAPA should be able to order it for you... it will most likely not be in stock. The NAPA unit is nice because it has a built in check valve. Still if you want another check valve in-line, just get it from NAPA (they will most likely have that in stock).

The control solenoid can be had by getting the GM part which is much cheaper than the now defunct Dawes unit.

All of my parts came off a VG since they have a variable intake manifold.

The bracket the vacuum canister comes with works nicely to attch to the strut tower as well. I also used the MAP switch and check valve from the VG.

My pictures are are the bottom.

The VG is to the SE model which has 190hp right?
Is that DOHC or SOHC?
I saw the vacuum canister at the junkyard.
But they didn't have a check valve.
Can I get just any one-way check valve?
and is the napa P/N 730-1607? I just ask because I went on their website and that P/N doesn't exist.

Early '90s Stanzas also have the same cannister, check valve and a solenoid thats a perfect match for the empty second spot on the stock solenoid bracket in '95/96 Maximas. Looks 100% factory, even the color (Green).

Definitely get the GM vacuum solenoid if you cant find one. I posted the part number on Mr. Cranman's groupe deal thread (about $13).

Almost every car you find I a junkyard will have a map/baro switch, you just have to know the criteria of one. It will have 3 outlets for vacuum hoses (to which hoses may or MAY NOT be attached) and it will have 2 wires going into it. Most likely it will be on or very close to the intake manifold of the car. Some cars I can think of that I saw them on are (mazda 626, mx6, ford probe, Mazda MX3, VG powered Max, VE powered Max, VQ powered max (yes we have them stock) Nissan Pulsar, Nissan Sentra, Stanza, etc). These cars also have vacuum canisters as well.

The check valve is a part that ANY parts store should have, and it shouldn't be more than $3, I think mine was like $1.39.

The VG motor (160 hp) was in every Maxima from '89 to '91.
In 92-94, the VE (190 hp) motor was exclusivce to the SE, all the others had the VG. The VG is SOHC and the VE is DOHC.
