Should be a driver's race. SVX is a 3600lb car, but has 230hp and 228tq.

3.3L flat 6...

BTW I just looked up 1/4 mile times on the SVX forums... the best they are running is about 15.4 @ 88mph... nothing a decently driven 5spd Max can't destroy.

i always thought those cars were kinda neat looking, just not my taste, i think the windows would bother me. i am pretty sure the 5speeds run mid to low 15's, so i would say a little slower than a stock 5speed and a good race for a light modded (i/y) auto max

That's strange. I've never seen a mention of these anywhere, and I asked my friend that exact question today. "How big's the engine in those things.. Fast?" With the 3.3L answer, I figured the max would still hold up.

I don't think they come in five speeds, I was looking at buying one and remember being told that they only came in Auto.

I takes off ok, but my maxima is faster. On the highway it sucks because the gearing is too tall.

confusion, if they dont come in auto then how do you have an auto?!

yes auto is all they come in. Go to edmunds.com and look in the standard features/ options section for the 96 svx. You will see that they only offer an auto.

They only came in auto, check subaru.com but they did have them as a 5spd in Japan, and you can get conversion kits for them over here.

I used to own a Mark III Supra 5 speed turbo. Also 3600 lbs, but with 230 hp and 260 lb-ft of TQ. My 98 Maxima would probably have walked it. 3600 lbs is just way too much for a 3 liter 6 cylinder powerplant (with 200-240 hp) to throw around at will. This SVX will get owned big time b/c of it's lower TQ and auto and AWD tranny loss. A 3600 lbs car needs at least a 4 liter V8.
