ACT clutch is the shlt! I just got on it.

I've had my act clutch for about 2 weeks now and have gotton 800 miles on it. so today i got on it for the first time. (not really) but really, i redlined it, power shifted , everything, drove it like i stole it... my max is a totally different car... barking 3rd gear is a joke... everytime i catch 3rd for like 2 seconds.... catching 2nd makes my dash almost fall off. believe it or not, with my 75 shot of nitrous i can squeal 4th a little going 90 mph.. well, just wanted to vent my happiness... what can i say, I love 5 speed maximas.

Now keep in mind you're now slower because of the excessive spinning and that sensation of the dash almost falling off is your tranny bucking very hard against the engine mounts. Neither of these things are good in any way.

Its fairly easy to control the wheel hop and spin. It just takes a little bit of practice and patience.

yeah,i still practicing the launching. it's hard not to make the dash shake violently... but its a perfect clutch for the maxima. i just can't over the 3rd gear chirrrrrrrrping.

The ACT clutch grabs extremely quick and hard, that's why you get the violent shaking and slamming. Spinning the tires is actually good thing because some of that torque is released when the tires spin. The wheelhop on the otherhand is not good.

The ACT can be a really good clutch assuming you adjust your driving style. Unlike the stock clutch, you're not going to be able to slam the gears unless you want to risk breaking things. I'd suggest at least granny shifting a little bit on the 1-2 to reduce the spin/hop. The 2-3 and the 3-4 shifts can be relatively quick, but don't slam them. These seem to be the gears that get munched with the ACT therefore I'd be nice to them. My guess is the syncros and 1-2 gears are pretty beefy due to the higher torque loads and the 3 and 4 gears are relatively weaker.

no... powershift! don't worry about all that shlt. plenty of members have act clutch and its all good... but really, you don't need the act clutch if you're NOT Boosted(turbo, supercharged, or nitroused)
You would be either fine with a stock clutch or a stock replacement. I got it because my stock one slipped on a 75 shot of the laffy gas.
