Hardwired Radar Detector... Best Way To Wire For Turn Off And On?

Ok I want to hardwire the Radar detector I have... the wiring isnt the hard part, i can do that, but how do i make it so that the detector will turn off when i turn off the car and conversely turn on when the car is started???

I basically just don't want it on 24/7...

Thx in advance for the help

Tyler

You need to wire it to an ignition switched fuse... not a fuse that gets power all the time.

If you radar detector turns on and off with the ignition when plugged into the cigarette lighter, then just tap into those wires. Thats what I did, but I also have a 99 and I'm not sure if its the same on 96's.

Mine is powered by the hot wire from my heated seat switch. You can wire it to your cig lighter also.
