Need to vent!

I just got a friggin ticket for turing right on red. For all those who don't live in New Jersey, at 999 out a 1000 stop lights it is LEAGAL to make a right on red. However, today was not my lucky day. I happened to come across that 1 out of a 1000 with a cop right behind me. Seriously, if I really thought it was illegal would I do it knowing that a poiceman was behind me. Anyway, the b*st*rd gave me a ticket and basically said, "We are very lenient on these things, so you should go to court and plead not guilty, i'm sure the judge will let you off without points". If thats true, whats the point of giving me the ticket!!!!! I guess if i was an optimistic that would be a plus. So in the scheme of things this is minor occurance, but it sure can ruin a weekend. I know that none of you actually care about me getting a 78 dollar ticket, but i needed to tell someone about this insurrection!
Thanks for listening to me B*tch,
-Danny

PS, i went back to the scene of the crime later on in the night to discover that the no turn on red sign was about 15 feet before the intersection, what kind of Sh*t is that!

So ... there was a sign ... and you didn't pay attention to it, got a ticket because you weren't supposed to make a turn on red ... and you're blaming the cop for giving you a ticket for something that was illegal.

Does that about sum it up?

Sure seems to from what I can see.

I've missed signs before myself as I'm sure that all of us have. However, it was still my fault when I've missed signs as it was your fault for missing this one. I think that you should be mad at yourself, not the cop, and be glad that the cop told you that if you go to court that they would probably let you off.

Well it is a little ridiculous that the sign was 15 ft in front of the intersection...

Like i said, just venting!

I know that I was in the wrong. I just don't like getting ticketed for something silly like that. I'd even feel better if it was for speeding (knock on wood). I am almost positive that a friend of mine (well known lawyer) is going to get me out of it except for the fine. But its still annoying. I was actually in the process of fighting with my girlfriend thats really why i missed the sign.

Yeah, 15 ft before the intersection is kind of ridiculous. Politely Let the jugde know where the sign is, not making any excuses but based on the fact that proper placement should be AT the intersection an unlike NYC, you CAN make a right on red in MOST cases he should throw it out.

Hope you feel better

The cop's statement was kinda ridiculous. If the judge will probably let you out of it why give you the ticket? Oh wait a minute must be close to the end of the month or something. You were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

That sucks, it took alot for me and my parents when we went up to NY to NOT turn on reds, because its completely legal out here in FL. Sucks man, really does.

i feel your pain

i live in the south, and cops are tough in these parts. you neve know what any person or cop will be like on any given day. if your car is blacked out with tint or modded . he may have been suspcious of something or just wanted to write you up ..who knows ..? anyways any ticket stinks ...you might could do some research and find out what the law states in your state on how close a street sign should be from a intersection ..you might get lucky there.. if for some reason its been misplaced.
,
i know once i was baffled by a mississippi state trooper ... i was driving down the road on cruise set on the speed limit. the next thing i know there are blue lights behind me. im like do what ? the guy ask me do i know why he pulled me over? i say NO, he says i was doing 10 over the speed limit ... i did not take that news very well .. but ever since that ..i thought ...wow, these guys can write you up whenever and however they want .. you may end up just having to take it.. the judge is not going to believe you over a law enforcement officer, unless the judge is a relative ...ha ha !thats how it works down here... again sounds like bad luck and timing...if you want go through the hassle of disputting it, it a hair cut and a shave and a very good attitude, you could pull it off..hey how do you know if the judge dislikes this officer ha ha !! really on the flip side how do you know until you ask ...sorry dude ...! good luck

sorry man, honest mistake you made. i just hope you can get out of it and save a little money.

what i hate though is when you CAN make the turn on a red, but people dont stop first. they jus charge right in and turn. stop, take a look, and then go.
people around my area in NJ are WAY too impatient and no one will ever change

the cop was a nice guy

I could tell that he felt really bad about writing the ticket, he didn't seem much older than 22 or so. He was very nice to me and when he saw my reaction to the ticket he started making excuses for it, and telling me that i could get it reduced very easilly (would he do that if he didn't feel bad) I don't think i mentioned this before, but i was totally lost (actually asked the cop for directions). All my modifications are interior aside from some shiny piaa's and clears so i doubt he pulled me over for that reason. He was waiting there for a reason obviously. So he knew someone would do what i did. and i have a very good radar(escort 8500) and it didn't go off, so he wasn't looking for speeders. I was just in a bad place at a bad time, at a bad time of the month. quotas are due! Ive gotten over it(getting the ticket), but it still isn't fair. But then again neither is life.
