I went to sonic this morning for a pancake on a stick but when i got ready to leave no love so i tryed taking the batt off to see if i could reset something but no luck there i read the manual it says if the led on the dash stays on there is a prob .with the immobleizer system so i tryed the no for 5 secs,offf for 5 sec's ,and repeat but no luck I dont know what else to try i dont have money to take it to the stealership any help would reaaly be appreciated

It cost this guy $150+ to have everything reprogrammed. I read somewhere that Nissan has acknowledged that this is a problem with the 99s, but I don't think they fix it for free.

 

Yea you dont really have much of a choice. Do you have a spare key? If so, try that. Theres a chance that it will work. If not you're just screwed. Have it towed to the dealership. As you can see from the other post it cost me $150 for 2 keys. Thats pretty much the going rate other people have payed too. Good luck to ya.

Yep, happened to me 2. All u can do is have it towed to dealer and have keys/system reprogramed.

 

Does anyone know what the reprogramming procedure is? I highly doubt that all Nissan Dealerships have a special "key encoder machine"...

Odds are its something similar to programming a remote...turn the key in a special sequence, press the correct buttons at the correct time and voila! Programmed key! I'll hunt through my FSM tonight...

Man that crap happned to me a Few Months ago, they had to tow my car to the stealership so they can re-program my key and security thing, It ended up costing me 110 dollars.

 

if it only costs me that ill kiss the guy ,how long will they keep my car?

 

Depends on if they're busy or not i guess. It doesnt take them long to program the keys. I think they usually charge about a 1/2 hr for labor.

You can get used/junkyard ones for under $200.

 

Did the dealer tell u your ecu was bad? My original mechanic who specializes in Nissan cars thought the same thing until he talked with his contact over at the local Nissan dealer and discovered it was the immobilizer.

Another member here had the samething happen to them not to long ago. His mechanic thought it was the ecu but actually just was the immobilizer.

Dude that really sucks. Like fisher said, the same thing happened to me. My Nissan knowledgable mechanic thought it was my ecu as well. He wasnt aware of the immobilizer. Thats about what he told me a new ecu would cost. Man, that is a ****ty deal .Sorry to hear that. Any word on what made your ecu go?

 

What are you people doing to ruin your ECU?

I've tapped my ECU and run wires all over the place. Replaced tons of stuff in my car, etc. and my car has never given me problems.

but good news my nissan dealer told me it was coverd buy a 80,000 mile nissan factory waranty even thought i did not buy the car new my final cost $0.00 sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
