I got this email from my friend who recently moved back to Japan saying that his dad gave him a Nissan Blue Bird. Can anyone tell me what this is? Noby's family is very rich and his grandfather was a top executive type for Nissan (retired). I am wondering if this is some type of special edition of a fast Nissan (skyline?)I have never heard about. Thanks

To my knowledge (correct me if I'm wrong here), but I think that is just a Sentra or altima. Not sure. But they don't have the same names for cars in the US. Like the a Maxima here is a Cerfio(?) there I think. Again, I'm not sure, so don't flame me for being wrong.

The Bluebird is the Stanza/Altima. The name Bluebird wasn't used in the states because there was a bus company that already used the name.

nope, nope..

The bluebird is the Sentra Turbo motor (Japanese Spec). It looks like the Sentra 2-door here. 200hp motor.

Next...?

I'll take your word. I swear I read an article somewhere a long time ago that said the bluebird was the same as a Stanza in the 80's. Ah well, I'm really behind on facts about cars.

Apologies about the mistake.

So it must be quick with that little body. Noby said his parents would give him any Nissan he wanted (Including a Skyline) if he graduates from college. Instead he uses his parents money to travel around the world and try out for professional soccer teams. Damn!! I hate that Guy!! He doesn't even like cars! The skyline doesn't even interest him at all. He thought my Maxima was way too fast. Silly. I wish I was in his position!

The ORIGINAL BlueBird was the Datsun 510 back in 1967. That name is at least that old. The 240 or Silvia name is that old also.

The Bluebird has the same styling as the Altima but has runs with the SR20DE (Sentra) engine. Check out this article:

http://www.autospeed.com/A_0140/article.html

It has a stock Turboed Bluebird 4WD which carried the SR20DET engine. That's one toy I'd like to have.
