Where is the mileage stored?

Ok, so, I got my new cluster today, and, the first thing I noticed was that the faces are silver, I thought the 2k and 2k1 SE's were white? no bother I like the look anyway.

I installe dthe cluster, turned the car over and it now says I have 61K miles on the car, when I don't, also, the ABS light is on. I switched back to my old dash and my mileage is what I expect and no ABS light.

I have the dashes out and have disconnected the battery, will this help?

Also, the fuel guage does not have a stop on it, but, my 2k1 GXE dash does?.

Can anybody shed any light on these curiosities for me?

Thanks in advance.

SE gauges are a titanium finish, not white. They are just such a light 'silver' they often do look white.

As for the memory, IIRC a dealer needs to transfer the data from cluster to cluster.

if you got the silver gauge cluster, then you got the 02-03 SE cluster. and i think you have a 2K1 GXE, so i don't think you can use that cluster(if it works, then great! ) i don't think the mileage is recorded at the cluster either. i've heard some people swapping their cluster to the SE ones, and all of them say the mileage you have just show up in the screen. so i'm guessing the mileage is either burned into the ECU or in the separate location of the car.

It is definatley a 2k1 cluster, it came out of an Annniversary edition, and, it only has the 1 lcd screen on the speedo. I am swappong it out because I just like the look, I think the dials look better.

There is a reference to the info swap here, about 1/3 of the page down. The link in the thread does not work anymore but it does say somethig about the clusters having their own boards....

Yes, they do, I will tackle that problem later, my concern now is why the ABS light stays on with the new dash, but, not with the old one??..........anyone?
