'93 radio problem

This is an old issue, I don't care too much about it, but since I'm here, maybe somebody can help: I own an SE with Bose radio, but it seems like there's a switch that doesn't work between the radio and the speakers. The speakers keep shutting on/off, and I can hear a "switch" sound coming from the left side panel, next to the "dead pedal"/left foot.
I didn't care to look into it so far, but maybe somebody knows if that panel can be removed easily and there's actually a part that can be changed to fix this problem? Or could be just a loose wire?
I had once an alarm switch installed next to this panel, that is broken, and could be that some wires got mixed up in the process?

TIA

I think that is where the bose relay is located but I am not 100% sure since I really never looked into it. The relay could be bad I guess.

I had the same problem (also a 93 SE w/ Bose) about 3 years ago. I would sometimes "bang" the side dash near the radio and it would kick back on. Eventually I got feed up enough and got out my multimeter. Turns out I wasn't getting power to amps when it "switched" off, but I was still getting pre-amp signal from the head unit to the amps/speakers. The amp power relay is in the driver's side kick panel (below the fuse box). I checked the relay and it was OK on my car. I then checked for power coming from the head unit to the relay (to trigger the relay to "on" and provide power to the amps), and there wasn't any. Turns out I had a short inside the Bose head unit and it wasn't putting out juice on that circuit. Bose head units go for about $250 out of the junkyards (recycle shops) around here. So, I just spliced the "ignition-switched" power lead going to the head unit into the wire running to the relay so that ignition switched voltage is provided to both the headunit and the relay - end of problem. No problems since.

Thanks for your answer. Looks like it's the same thing in my car. One of these days I'll open that panel and see if I can fix it.
