straight pipe vs. catalytic converter

does anyone remember seeing "test pipes" on ebay for somewhere around 40 bucks? it was sold as a direct-fit, off-road (in a maxima? ) replacement for your cat. did anyone here buy one of those things, like i did, and does anyone know how much of a power gain you would get by having a straight pipe over getting a relatively decent aftermarket cat. thanks for reading.

dummy...does your test pipe make a gurgling, loose sound?...or is that just mine? i'm fairly certain mines not loose, it just sounds "cheap" or broken. just wondering, thanks.

My cat. was clogged too and I'm waiting to get a high-flow cat. Right now, I've just got a regular piece of $5 piping up there right now and it does fine? The only real problem w/ it is that the exhaust reeks up my garage and it somewhat bangs up and down, but, not much? I too noticed a slight power gain?
