13.623 @ 100.56mph on slicks, 13.982 @ 100.14 street tires, 101mph best trap

So we went to the track today. Myself, Max2000jp, Chi99limited, I30TmikeD, Speedy6, Xmax, 2kMax, and Jamie Booth. If I forgot anyone please forgive me.

It was an ideal day at the track, it doesn't get any better. It was about 40 degrees out, sunny some of the time, pressure at this time is 30.31 and rising, so it was pretty high. In additon to this there was NO ONE THERE. Literally. There were about 60 cars there the whole day. It was crazy. You couldn't ask for more.

My best pass of the day:

R/T---.509
60'---1.934
330---5.624
1/8---8.709
MPH---78.67mph
1000--11.375
1/4---13.623
MPH---100.56mph

This was on slicks, with my normal weight reduction, no passenger seat, no spare, no jack. Carbon fiber hood was on but I was using my 15" winter wheels which are heavier than my 17" Koseis.

I backed it up with:

R/T---.503
60'---1.995
330---5.697
1/8---8.775
MPH---79.08mph
1000--11.434
1/4---13.668
MPH---100.99mph

Now for the street tire runs. Since it was so empty there, I decided to run both in "street trim" that is, not removing ANYTHING. All the things that came in my car were in it when I ran these times, spare, jack, seats, etc. Only my CF hood changed the weight of my car.

Best Run:
14.161 @ 99.91mph (2.266 60'--blah)

Backed up with 14.169 @ 99.66 (2.224 60')

Then I took out my seat, spare, jack, etc, but still on street tires.

Best:
.700
2.197
5.952
9.047 @ 79.37mph
11.727
13.982 @ 100.14mph

Backup:
.688
2.274
6.048
9.142 @ 79.26mph
11.811
14.057 @ 100.55mph

So there you have it.

My power mods are:
JWT POP, Cattman Y, WSP Test Pipe, JWT ECU w/ 7200RPM limiter, MEVI was set at 5200RPM all day. Didn't think to change it to 5000 which is what I wanted to run it at. Estimated race weight in street trim is 3020lbs, race weight with crap out of the car is 2930ish.

Holy crap, nice time Neal. I was seriously hoping you'd get 13.6s. That's just amazing.

I wish my track was empty on opening day. There must have been 150 trailor cars and 300 street cars. I'm going back next Sunday and hopefully I'll get a bunch of runs in and I'll be able to let my motor cool down this time. I still don't think I'll come remotely close to the 13.9-14.0s you're running on street tires though. Your 1/8 mile trap speeds on street tires are in the 79mph range. Mine are in the 77mph range

BTW, I put the hurt on a 86-87 L98 Vette last night

I just looked at the pics. Things I noticed:

1) There wasn't anyone there
2) That track looks pretty rough
3) Is that track downhill a little because "Evo-time" pic clearly shows the track going downhill and then leveling off once you're in the shutdown portion of the track.
4) That Evolution went 12.6@111mph!!!!!!!! I got's to get me some of dat.
5) It looked damn cold out there. Everyone's zipped up in parkas.

Congrats on the time Neal!

13.6 is very impressive for being N/A!

Its amazing what slicks can do for you. Trapping @ 100mph is also very respectable! Once again, you are setting the pace for the N/A guys.

It sure looks downhill to me, but the regulars that run there swear up and down that it is an optical illusion because the runoff goes uphill. Who knows. I've run the same times (with my previous mods) and same traps at other tracks as I do at this one so I'm not sure if its down hill or not.

BTW at least all of my runs on slicks are on video. Not sure about the street tire runs. We'll see when they get emailed to me.

The track is level, but the shut down is up hill. The track is a IHRA sanctioned track, so I am sure they wouldnt allow an unfair advantage.

As for the EVO, it was modded with $1000 worth of mods. I didnt talk to the guy, but he owns AMS, which is a huge tuner shop around here. Neal knows what mods the guy had.

AMS is the tuner of the fastest Galant VR4 in the country. 10.91 @ something last I knew. Anyhow I talked to the guy with the Evo and he said it had boost controller set at 20psi, exhaust, and intake. Stock boost is a spike to 19psi then it settles down to 16psi. The car still had temp tags on it.

That's pretty good. I expect that to be put in title under my name, at the least. Or maybe, "arguing with Dave B is like arguning with a wall"

Take a look at the pic though and you'll see that it is downhill HOWEVER it may only be that the track is down hill in the final few hundred feet or less because from the other pics it looks completely level where do make most of your run.

Neal-
I wasn't implying you ran what you did because of the track. I hope you didn't take it that way.

Max2000JP-
Lots of sanctioned tracks are uphill or downhill, some are worse than others. I think the word "sanctioned" means that they are safe enough for the "big dawgs" to run on (adequate run out, concrete walls, good lighting, good return road, overall decent facilities).

I'm going to take a tennis ball there next time I'm there and find out if it really is down hill or if its just an illusion.

like a hall of fame of some sort. Congrats on the mid 13's Neal.

Great times, particularly on street tires You must be the first N/A 4th gen (or even n/a 3.0) into the 13s on street tires. Great reaction times too, you must surprise a lot of 'sports cars' at the track

Do you make any other changes other than weight reduction and adding slicks? I remember reading that somebody tried blocking the rear suspension for better traction an 60' times.

What's with the difference in reaction times with street tires vs slicks? Does it take your car abut .20 sec longer to 'rollout' on street tires or is it just a coincedence?

Re: 13.623 @ 100.56mph on slicks, 13.982 @ 100.14 street tires, 101mph best trap

You had some impressive RTs there. Pushing the envelope just a bit further huh? I'll be even more impressed when you hit 13s with full street trim.

good runs neal...Just when I start getting close. I guess it is time for me to get slicks and a torque converter finally, and switch over to the JWT ecu from my g-force. Maybe I can run 13's too.
