if you're worried, take your plates off before the masses get there, and don't forget to cover the VIN in the windshield.

Why would they steal your license plate i dont get it ? And steal what ? At shows i guess you open hook trunk and doors right ? So what are people stealing systems and decks ?

you missed the point..

they're writing down the liscense plate numbers, then looking them up to find the owner's address... then a week or so later, they go in and clean the car out while it's sitting in the driveway...

Granted, this sounds scary, but how many people have ACTUALLY had this happen to them? It's more urban myth than anything. the only time I've had anybody even say stuff like that to me at car shows was when I was competing in IASCA finals... I've been to 40+ car shows and not once has anyone tried to break into my cars.

i plan on removing mine this year at every show...

some things i've noticed people do is...

1) remove them

2) cover them with something

3) turn them backwards ( [whispers] this doesn't work because people can read backwards [/whispers] )

Just remove them and you're fine...

If you request a plate search from the DMV, you have to give the DMV YOUR personal information. The plate owner is notified that someone has requested their license plate information.

So there you go.
